"NU Chapter's History"

Founded: March 15, 1921 at Pennsylvania State University

The thirteenth chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded at the Pennsylvania State University on March 15, 1921.  Nu Chapter was the first black organization at the university, founded by eight men.  These eight men happened to be the entire black population at that time.  Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Nu Chapter had a helping hand in the starting of most organizations on the Penn State University Park campus.  A few distinguishing Nu Chapter brothers are Astronaut Guion Bluford, football player Lydell Mitchell, Lawyer  Honorable Julian Cook, and Engineer Benson L. Dutton.

For the past 85 years, the chapter has enjoyed on illustrious history, inclusive of high scholastic achievement, strong leadership, athletic prowess, and cultural awareness.  The Nu Chapter projects and programs include The Miss Black Penn State Pageant, The Black Male Summit, donations to the United Negro College Fund, annual food drives, national high school essay contests and other programs.

Nu Chapter has now been in existence for over 80 years-imagine the history that the brothers, who compose it, have created.  Our organization seeks to continue to bring positive black men into the fold of Omega in a constant quest of Friendship, leadership, responsibility, and Love.
