During the initial years as stated, the fraternity selected, adopted and created numerous standards to act as operating pillars within the fraternity.  A formal Memorial Service was mandated and all chapters were and are now required to recognize those brothers who enter our Omega chapter annually.  In addition, the fraternity’ hymn crafted with the assistance of none other than Dr. Charles Drew, was activated and titled “Omega Dear”.  Other standards adopted by the fraternity were the fraternity’s shield formally referred to as “Eschuteon”, Sweetheart Song and also of course, the fraternity’s colors or Royal Purple and Old Gold.   The fraternity titled their magazine, the Oracle as well.

Myths abound about the meanings of certain words, phrases and activities often practiced by Omega men.  One myth is the origin of the title “Quedog”.  To date, no documented proof of the initiation of this term to describe members of the fraternity has been found.  The term used by many as a term of endearment is not an official term in the Omega vocabulary.  Also of note is the reference to the symbol of the Bulldog.  The origins of this symbol are as mysterious as the myths of the ancient Egyptian Pyramids.  No matter what you hear, the bulldog is not the official mascot of the fraternity.

Also, there is no formal relationship between the women of Delta Sigma Theta and the men of Omega.  Unlike the sorors of Zeta Phi Beta and the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma no official bond is established in writing or in deed.  Affiliation among certain members of each organization are solely localized however, the men of Omega always display and have a sincere affection for the illustrious ladies of Delta.  In fact, it is true that many men have Delta sweethearts and/or wives who wear the colors of Crimson and Cream.
