Bro. Phillip Edmonds was initiated into
Lambda Gamma Gamma Chapter in the spring of 2002. Brother Edmonds is a 1996 graduate of Virginia State
University in Petersburg, VA.
He grew up in a military family in Washington
Township, NJ. His
father Brother Larry Edmonds pledged the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at Omicron Nu
in 1975.
Over the course of Brother Edmonds six years in this fraternity he has been
able to serve in several capacities. He has worked tirelessly and humbly on most of his chapter’s
committees. Brother Edmonds was appointed by the Basileus, as the LGG
Coordinator for Chapter Operations, in which he most notably designed, ordered,
and distributed the new LGG Chapter T-Shirts and monitored and improved
procedures. He also served as the Chapter Keeper of Peace and Assistant
Keeper of Records & Seal.
In addition to Brother
Edmonds other elected duties, he served several years as the Chairman for Achievement
Week, Project Uplift, a fund raising organization providing
community services to include mentoring, scholarships and support for the
needy, Youth Sports, and Scholarship.
Phillip also served as
the Committee Chairman for the LGG Graduate Mentorship at Epsilon Sigma (Bowie State
University). As part of
the mentorship committee to Epsilon Sigma, Phil was able to assist in ensuring
that the undergraduate brothers attended and voted in the Shirtsleeve
Conference, Undergraduate Summit and District Conference. Brother Edmonds also coordinated
with the Basileus of Epsilon Sigma Chapter, to assist Epsilon Sigma and LGG in
social action projects such as RICA (Regional Institute for Children and
Adolescence), Adopt a Highway and We Feed Our People, in which they contributed
14 bags of clothes to our clothing drive. During the 2005-2006 year Brother
Edmonds was also the Marketing Sub-Committee Chairman for the Annual “Cruise
with the Ques” Boatride and the Annual Mardi Gras Scholarship Fundraiser.
In 2003 Brother Edmonds
founded the LGG Annual Fishing Trip a fellowshipping outing that the brotherhood
enjoys very much yearly.
Additionally, Brother
Edmonds served as a working member of the following committees: Kids Day at Six
Flags, Chapter Cook-Out, DC Barbeque Battle, Security, and We Feed Our People.
He also participated in elevating the chapter espirit de corps by actively
supporting the LGG Chapter basketball team, and the chapter quarterly church
services.
Brother Edmonds additionally
serves his community through this church in which he is the chairman for the
Share program. Through this program, he assists in providing groceries/supplies
to elderly or less fortunate members/individuals in the church or community. Brother Edmonds has
received three Bridge Builder Awards in LGG, Which is an award that recognizes
young brothers in the chapter for their achievements/accomplishments. He was
also awarded as the chapter Superior Service nominee and on May 5, 2007, Brother Edmonds was presented the 2nd
District Superior Service Award.
Phillip has
volunteered endless and untold hours throughout the years in support of LGG
activities as well as many other chapters in Omega Psi Phi Incorporated. His
dedication to LGG and his commitment to the ideals the Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc. is evidenced by his steadfast holding to the principles of manhood,
scholarship, perseverance and uplift.
