Bro. Michael C. Epps, Esq.
Brother Michael C. Epps was initiated into Omega through the
Upsilon Alpha Chapter, Atlantic City,
New Jersey on May 25, 1990. Brother Epps was born and raised in Atlantic City, New
Jersey and had as his role models and life mentors
some distinguished members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. including the late
Brother James L. Usry.
Brother Epps graduated from Atlantic City High School
and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism from
the University of
Maryland at College Park. He also received a Juris Doctorate from the
Howard University School of Law.
Brother Epps was appointed to the New Jersey Casino Control
Commission by Acting Gov. Donald T. DiFrancesco and was sworn into office in
January 2002. There he serves as on of a
five member panel responsible for the regulation of casino gaming in New Jersey. Prior to his appointment he served as general
counsel for the Atlantic City Board of Education. Before joining the Board of Education, he was
an associate with the law firms of Horn, Goldberg, Gorny, Plackter, Weiss &
Perskie in Atlantic City
and Savio, Reynolds & Drake in Absecon,
New Jersey.
Commissioner Epps is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He currently serves as a commissioner on the
Atlantic County Utilities Authority, is a member of the Advisory Board of the
First Tee of Greater Atlantic City and serves on the Board of Directors of
Atlantic City Special Improvement District.
He is married to Gina Merritt-Epps and they have a daughter Taylor.
Brother Epps has served Omega as Basileus of Upsilon Alpha
Chapter for 4 two -year terms from 1998-2006.
Brother Epps served on the Second District Achievement Week Committee
and in 2006 was appointed Chairman.
