Donzelle S. Tiller
A native of the eastern shore
of Maryland, Donzelle was born in Chestertown Maryland on September
24, 1955. He is the second of four
children born to Shirley and Lankford.
Donzelle was reared in Kent
County and attended the
public schools there. He graduated from Kent County High School in 1974 moved to south Philadelphia.
He began his post secondary education at Tracey Warner School of Fashion
design, at 401 north broad st., Philadelphia
earning an associate’s degree in Fashion in Media. He earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in English, with a concentration in verbal and non-verbal communication
from Virginia State
University and a Masters Degree in
College and Community Counseling at Wilmington
University, New Castle, Delaware. He is a certified in First Aid, Anger
Management, Conflict Resolution and Mediation and CPR.
Donzelle is a faithful member
of Murphy AME church in Chester
Pa. He is a choir member, a
steward and a member of Murphy Men’s Movement.
Donzelle has been worked in higher education for over 25 years. He began his career in Higher Education at Lincoln University in the area of Residence
Life. He has been employed at Cheyney
University of Pa., in the area of student services for 22 years. He has served as Residence Hall Director and
the Director for Residence Life and Housing.
He currently is serving as the Associate Dean of Graduate and Continuing
education at Cheyney
University.
Brother Tiller was initiated
into the fraternity at Nu Psi chapter, on November 16, 1982. During his tenure at Virginia State
he served as chairman of social actions, basileus, conclave delegate and dean
of Pledges. Upon his arrival at Lincoln University for employment, brother
Tiller became acquainted with the brothers at Beta Chapter and was asked by
their chapter advisor Bro. Frank “Tick” Coleman, to serve as his
assistant. Brother Tiller accepted
brother Coleman’s offer and thus began working for Omega in the second
district, at Beta chapter, Lincoln
University, Pa. He was instrumental in working with the
brothers and assisting them with what was then the new program Selection and
Education. The line that was initiated
under the new program was fall 1985 “Ten Dog Knights”. Brother Tiller is proud to say that he was
the Assistant Advisor, when our current District Representative was initiated
into the Fraternity fall 1986. Brother Tiller left Lincoln
and began employment at Cheyney
University. In 1991 he began serving as the graduate
advisor to Beta Gamma chapter. He has served in this capacity for eighteen
years. During that time he has seen a
number of brothers come through the chapter and boasts of a 96 percent
graduation rate. He became active with
Epsilon Pi chapter in Chester
Pa. in the early 90”s, under the
leader of Bro. Clifton Smith I. Brother
Tiller has worked on a number of committees and served as, March Master,
Membership Selection chairman and Basileus.
Brother Tiller was asked by past District Representative Bro. Gregory
Ackles to serve as Liaison to Undergraduate chapters and a resource to advisors
across the second district. Brother
Tiller coordinated the first second district Undergraduate Retreat in
2004. The second District Undergraduate
Retreat has been held annually since its inception. Brother Tiller is inspired by working with
young people and committed to motivating them through persuasion and example.
